Barbara's Profile

I hail from Dublin and I am the proud mother of 2 daughters, one of whom recently had her own Humanist wedding with me as celebrant which was a huge honour!

Over my career I have worked with children and families and also in training and development in community, voluntary and statutory organisations. Alongside this I’ve enjoyed pottery, travel, socialising and trips to music festivals. When I got married many years ago it was difficult to find an experienced Humanist celebrant for support and guidance so we wrote our own wedding ceremony.

Happily, since then Humanist celebrancy has become more widely available in Ireland and I am delighted to be part of this, supporting individuals, couples, and families to design ceremonies that best celebrate the important milestones in their lives.

My role is to help you put together an occasion that will be totally unique to you. You may have lots of ideas about what you want, or no clue where to start! Either way, your ceremony will be warm, memorable and well-crafted yet joyful, fun or solemn as the occasion requires.

As I am a registered legal Solemniser, I am legally authorised to marry you. I am happy to travel within 50km of Dublin city.

I am also available to conduct funerals and naming ceremonies. A Humanist funeral is a non-religious ceremony which marks the passing of a loved one by balancing the sadness and the sense of loss with a celebration of the life that was lived. This is achieved with thoughtful reflections from family, friends and colleagues. Click for further information on Humanist funerals.

A Humanist Naming ceremony is held to welcome a new life into the family, the community and to the world. It is an opportunity to gather together with family and friends to celebrate your child’s birth and, if you wish, to appoint Guide Parents.
